Stuart has been booked at a number of venues throughout the UK to lecture about his approach to asylum work. We are launching our internet campaign and developing our online service. We will also be supporting Blackburn Rovers in launching their International Education Academy. The company continues to support, charitable organisation, No Going Back.
A year of change! The company launched its website and Facebook page. Jason Capper-Tan joined the team as practice manager. A fully funded immigration trainee programme started. Jennie Chau successfully completed the training and gained OISC Level 1. At the end of the year, experience and award winning immigration advisor, Melissa Vangeen joined the team.
Our Leeds office opened in order to see members of the public, who wanted to have access to immigration advice in the city. This includes free consultations so that people who cannot afford representation can get support.
The company took on more commercial clients, as well as continuing its work with professional football clubs with such as West Ham United, Liverpool Football Club, Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanders.
Stuart started researching into the treatment of LGBT asylum seekers in the UK and set up the charity, No Going Back. Through his work at the charity, he met LGBT Legal Aid Barrister of the Year, Mr. Chelvan, who is a leading expert in this field.
Stuart sold his company, EMD UK Ltd, after having had it for over 8 years. He decided to practise immigrantion law to a small number of select clients. The clients were mainly professional football clubs. In the same year, Rachel joined Stuart to focus on developing the client base.
Senior caseworker and head of practice
Stuart Hanson is a senior caseworker and the Head of the practice of Immigration Law Solutions. He graduated from the University of Sheffield with the Mary D Adams prize for academic excellence. He has been registered with the Office of Immigration Services Commissioner for over 10 years.
Stuart is proud to have set up the charity, No Going Back CIO, which supports LGBT asylum seekers in the UK. He has spoken on the plight of LGBT asylum seekers alongside LGBT activist, Peter Tatchell, Amanda Gray UNHCR and LGBT barrister of the year 2014, Mr. Chelvan, who he has worked with on cases. Stuart has also been a guest speaker at the London School of Economics, St. Andrews University, Bradford Pride, Manchester Metropolitan University. He has also done interviews with Channel 4, Al Jazeera, LBC Radio and numerous training events.
Melissa did her post-graduate training at the University of Law in London and started her legal career at Watson, Farley & Williams in 1999, where she worked in their Employment & Immigration department.
In 2009, she became a partner and Head of Immigration at Solomon Taylor & Shaw where she worked with multi-national corporations, both inside and outside the UK. She has numerous honours and awards to her name and was most recently awarded Corporate Immigration Advisor of the Year by Lawyers Worldwide Award Magazine in 2016. In her free time, Melissa has a keen interested in World War One ephemera and memorabilia, theatre and genealogy.
Rachel Seabright is a senior case worker at Immigration Law Solutions. She has worked for a number of Members of Parliament and has been a senior case worker team leader at the Immigration Advice Service. She is registered to level 3 OISC accreditation and is also accredited with the Legal Services Commission at Level 1, 2 and supervisor Level.
She has worked with Stuart Hanson for the last 8 years and has represented a number of complex immigration cases. Rachel has also delivered training and written articles relating to immigration and sports law. She is a specialist in EEA law, family migration and tiers 1-4. She is also a specialist in data protection.
